one of the largest caldera in the world, as well as containing several large towns, and thriving farming communities, japan’s mt. aso area is also a still active and complex volcanic region. this is in november. in june and july the whole area is covered in lush green vegetation with the basin carpeted in a patchwork of rice paddies.
