this panorama was assem­bled from four seper­ate pho­tographs. taken from the rim of the caldera of mount aso in kyushu, japan. it is one of the biggest caldera in the world, approx­i­mately 90 km in cir­cum­fer­ence. the still active cen­tral moun­tain of aso san itself can be seen in the cen­tre of the pic­ture on the horizon.
