so much time… so little to do

finally emerging from, all things being considered, what has been a pretty grim winter here in london. the first really warm week here, now two weeks in to official spring. i’ve been pretty much a hermit, and not feeling much like taking pictures. i’m hoping to get over that over the next few days or so.
i’m not normally the kind of photographer who likes to talk about photography gear, (roll out all the standard clichés — ‘the best camera is the one you have with you’ ‘it’s not the camera, it’s the photographer’, and so on, ad nauseum. so bear with me for this. for years i’ve been using a fujifilm X100F’  but last year managed to track down one of those elusive x100 vi i won’t get into what i don’t like about it, there’s plenty, especially the labyrinthine settings menu system, but the things i do like about it are, in no particular order: ibis, which as you should know, stands for In Body Image Stabilisation. this really has affected my picture taking. i can get away with hand-held shutter speeds as low as ¼ second, even slower of i’m careful without signs of camera shake; then, the size of the camera; i wear it with a cross-body black sling, you’d hardly know it’s there. with a (cropped) sensor of 40mp, i have fairly high resolution and more subtle tonal gradation. (it’s not full-frame of course, but i have my nikon for that) it also has a flip out monitor so i can take waist level shots without pointing the camera aggressively at people on the street. i fully understand when people feel nerevous or intruded upon, by in-your-face-aggressive ‘street’ photographers.
anyway — here are a bunch of images made recently, no particular theme or connecting ideas, just snaps really. i appreciate your visit, and i welcome any comments (leave a message below).
